SEVENDUST's MORGAN ROSE Speaks Out On Fatherhood
September 17, 2002SEVENDUST drummer Morgan Rose recently spoke to Musictoday.com about the changes in his life that have taken place following the birth of his daughter two years ago.
"I like to try to think that I'm fairly conscious of my actions," Rose stated. "I try not to do anything that's going to embarrass my family. I try to kind of keep a little bit lower profile, and just try to behave myself. It makes it really tough to leave, and it takes me really about two weeks to get through the depression. It's the nature of the beast. It makes it tougher for me to do what I do. It was hard enough leaving my wife [former COAL CHAMBER bassist Rayna Foss—ed.] to go on the road. Now, I have to leave a child, too. It's a luxury to have my wife home with my child, and she's an incredible mother, so it makes it easier that I don't have to worry. It still doesn't stop the pain of laying down every night and knowing that your daughter is thousands of miles away from you sometimes. You know, it's made me responsible. I try to stay focused on playing music, and not cheating the fans out of what they paid money to come and see.
"My daughter gets so pissed off when I leave that when I call her," continued the drummer. "My wife will say, 'You want to talk with Daddy?' And I'll hear her in the background going, 'No.' I get to the point where I don't even ask any more. I just kiss her and tell her I love her, and try to let her know that I'm trying to build her future. I know she doesn't understand that now, but the reason I'm gone is that I'm trying to make a better life for her."
